For more than a decade it has been customary for ladies to wear a beautiful new hat on Easter. While fancy hats are not as common in the United States as they are in Europe, Easter is the one time of year when you will notice a larger population of women adorning themselves in glamorous headwear.
The tradition on a new hat on Easter is related to the beginning of spring and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Originally floral wreaths were worn to symbolize new birth and over time the wreaths evolved into decorative hats.
